Karine Maillette has been a veterinary surgeon for 20 years and a social worker with a master’s degree. A member of the Order of Social Workers, Family and Marriage Therapists of Québec (OTSTCFQ), and the Ordre des médecins vétérinaires du Québec (OMVQ), she combines expertise in veterinary medicine and social work to promote an integrated approach to animal and human well-being.

Passionate about the importance of human-animal relations, she is also co-chair of the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association’s (CVMA) WIDEA Committee and a member of the International Association of Veterinary Social Work (IAVSW).

Karine stands out for her dedication to translating scientific evidence into compassionate, practical interventions to ito support and enrich veterinary practice, always improving the quality of life for people and animals.

Thanks to her unique expertise combining veterinary medicine and social work, Karine advocates for a holistic approach that values the importance of the human-animal bond and the harmony between the needs of animals, owners and the veterinary community.
